What I Found in my Closet this Week…
(Day 43 of the 365 Day Challenge)
**Open Knit Sweater**
As a young girl growing up in the 80s, I always looked up to my older sister, who was a teenager at the time, wishing I could dress just like her. She did the 80s the way they were supposed to be done, following every trend that came out. Along with the big hair and tightly rolled jeans, she was always one of the best dressed teenage girls around. I can vividly remember sitting in my shorts and t-shirts watching her, with envy, getting ready to go out with her friends. She always looked perfect, just how I dreamed I would look when I finally became a teenager. Of course, by the time I became a teenager the 80s were over, and I had no style…jeans, sports t-shirts, and flannel button-up shirts were my staples. It was long after high school and college that I finally learned how to put an outfit together. Unfortunately, by that time the trends I watched my sister pull off so fashionably were no longer in. So you can imagine my excitement over the past year as the 80s have emerged back into the fashion industry in the 21st century. Finally, I had my chance to wear the styles I looked up to and dreamed about wearing for so long.
A few styles that have come back that I’m loving are the slouchy sleeve tee with a large neckline, sheer tops, and knit sweaters. Luckily, I found two of these trends in one piece in my closet this week – The Open Knit Sweater. The great thing about most Open Knit Sweaters this season is that they are designed like a slouchy tee. Put a nude, white, or colored cami underneath and you’re ready for a casual day at home or an evening out! It’s all about how you dress it up. The Open Knit Sweater I’m wearing is one that I had found at Target. I love pairing it with a scarf on cooler days, like I did this week, or wearing it with my favorite pair of white capris and cute wedges on a warm summer evening.
There are many places to find Open Knit Sweaters. One that I spotted the other day is at a great online store: Alloyapparel.com. I love the Fishnet Sweater available in teal in the picture below. Listed at only $36.90, this would be a must-have for my closet if I could buy it. If you’ve never visited Alloyapparel.com, I highly recommend you do. They have great tops and blouses for the season. Here is the link to see all their tops…love them: http://www.alloyapparel.com/category/tops.do?nType=1&incmpid=topnavtops
And that’s what I found in my closet during Week #6 of the 365 Day Challenge!
