What I Found in my Closet this Week…
(Day 113 of the 365 Day Challenge)
**Hi-Low Maxi Dress**
Bright colors, flirty dresses, strappy wedges…these are just a few of my favorite things about summer. Living in Northern Iowa, our warm weather time is limited so we have to take advantage of it for the few months we have it. I love wearing dresses and skirts, but am too much of a wimp to wear them during our cold weather months. Because of this, I have to wear them as much as I can when it is warm enough. That’s just another reason I love the Maxi Dress so much. It can easily be worn to a more formal occasion but can also be turned into a more casual outfit with some minor adjustments. Another new trend that has taken over the runways this year is the Hi-Low Dress. This is where the hem line of the dress comes up higher in front and lower in the back. I particularly love this look on the Maxi Dress because the front is then still long enough to feel appropriate for a 30 something mom like me, but still a little flirty.
One of my favorite dresses in my closet this season is a fun and brightly colored Hi-Low Maxi Dress I bought last year on clearance from Younkers. I particularly love this dress because I can wear it for an assortment of occasions. In this first picture, I’m getting ready to go out for a nice dinner. I complimented the beautiful yellow with a green gemstone necklace and earrings to match.
To make the outfit feel a little more casual, I made a simple change by throwing on a Denim Jean Jacket. This minor change makes it look and feel like a completely different outfit. Making this dress look more casual could also be done by changing the shoes to flats or adding a different belt.
There are many adorable Hi-Low Maxi Dresses out there to choose from. I found two from Target that I think could be easily dressed up or worn casually. The first is a Labworks Chiffon Hi-Low Maxi Dress for $49.99. This dress is also available in black.
The next is a simple Mossimo Racerback Hi-Low Maxi for $29.99. This adorable dress is also available in a bright blue. This particular color would look fabulous with a Denim Jean Jacket. Love this!
And that’s what I found in my closet during Week #16 of the 365 Day Challenge!
